bin Laden and climate change?

By Reilly Capps

This got largely missed. But the news about Osama bin Laden and climate change was one of the weirder blips to come through in a long time.

Suddenly and bizarrely, this guy’s an environmentalist. Al Jazeera translates:

In the new recording, bin Laden says ”all the industrial states” are to blame for climate change. ”However, George Bush junior, preceded by [the US] congress, dismissed the (Kyoto) agreement to placate giant corporations.”

Three thoughts:

1. What a hypocrite. This is the psychopath who engineered 9/11, which did not have a small carbon footprint. Plus, he advocates global jihad. Which will not be fought using Priuses.

2. This asshole has figured out that climate change is real and man-made, and he lives in a cave. Why can’t George Will work it out?

3. If this is all just another of bin Laden’s ploys to recruit more human suicide drones, it’s not a very smart one. And let me tell you why, Mr. bin Laden, you homicidal dick beard:

Climate change doesn’t get people revved up the way you need them to be. It has, mostly, gotten liberals and environmentalists who believe in it to change their light bulbs. It occasionally gets them to switch cars — they might buy a hybrid SUV over a sedan. But it almost certainly hasn’t caused very many people to give up their flights to Hawaii. And you expect Islamic radicals to launch grenades at Humvees? Or strap bombs to their chests? All because the U.S. didn’t agree to concrete goals in carbon limitations?

Listen, you ass. If you want to give your crazed minions some motivation, stick with the insane theology and murderous antisemitism, the kind of hate that’s been selling in the Middle East for 1,000 years. I mean, why change pitches now?

In the end, I just can’t see your crazed misguided religious fanatics in terrorist training camps in dirt-covered hellholes yelling at one another: “God is great! America is the Great Satan! Their mandatory miles per gallon standards have fallen below China’s! Allahu Akbar!”
